D-link DAP-2565 Plenum-Rated Dual Band POE Access Point

D-link DAP-2565 dual band plenum-rated POE APDeployment of multiple wireless access points in large areas with multiple rooms such as in offices, campuses, schools or multi-storey buildings is not an easy task to do with traditional wireless AP devices. You need to configure each of the AP devices in the location one by one, providing unique network name, unique IP address, changing the default user-name and password, providing security settings or MAC address filtering appropriately etc.

If you are in charge of the health of networking environment and you don’t have a well-managed register for all of the AP devices and other critical network devices, you will be overwhelmed by the phone calls from the users when they experience disconnecting issues to the network. Imagine that you have to come to the location and troubleshoot the problems, try to log-on to the device but can’t find the IP address or network name, forget the user-name and password, tracing where the network cable comes from which switch and so on. What if you manage many locations separated hundreds or thousands of miles away? Will you hire well-trained person in each of site or location? It will just raise your IT budget. Now, what you need is deploying self-configure wireless access point.

One of business class self-configure wireless access points is D-link DAP-2565 Air premier N dual band plenum-rated POE AP powered by cloud-command. The title is very long actually, just to let people to know the main features of the device instantly by reading the title. D-link emphasizes the features of this DAP-2565 AP to the cloud-command which is the main distinct feature compared to other traditional business class AP devices.

Traditionally with multiple locations, you need to individually come the location and manage the device including initial configuration such as providing the static IP address, changing the wireless security settings and so on. Ok, first installation is no problem which is usually done by well-trained administrator. With multiple access point devices in multiple locations, will you visit each of locations to maintain the device if no well-trained person available in each locations? With D-link DAP-2565 you can manage each of the deployment of the device remotely through Cloud-Command. You can manage all of your AP devices spread away in many locations, many cities or even many countries centrally. You don’t need well-trained engineer in each of locations. What you need is general technician to help you physically manage the hardware such as supplying the electricity, assuring the physical device in safe place and so on. The rest is your task to manage remotely via the internet.

Not just deployment of multiple DAP-2565 devices in multiple locations, you can also take much benefit of deployment of APs in large area or multi-storey buildings including the hotels, large schools, campuses and large apartments. Initial configurations and maintaining the devices can be done remotely. This is a good solution when your organization need to push a standardization across all the business units and assuring each of the locations to comply with the corporate security policy.

Are there any cons for this DAP-2565 cloud-command Access point device? Cloud-Command is not free service. You need to pay for the service annually. The other thing is that this device is selectable dual band which is basically wireless access point which works in a single band either 2.4GHz or 5GHz band in a time. Should you require mix wireless clients (2.4GHz-based clients and 5GHz-based clients) to connect to the network together in a single location, probably you need deploying simultaneous dual band AP such as Ruckus Zoneplex 7962 concurrent dual-band Smart Wi-Fi AP with Dynamic Beamforming technology.
