Linksys E4200 N750 Vs Belkin N750 DB

New generation of Linksys E4200 N750 wireless router Vs Belkin N750 DB what main differences between the two routers?

Linksys E4200 N750 routerWireless Technology

Basically both routers have the same wireless technology – the N750 wireless technology, meaning the routers support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands at the same time and delivering the high speeds up to 450Mbps in 5GHz band while at the same time delivering the speeds up to 300Mbps in 2.4GHz band. Off course, these are theoretical physical speed; in the real world you will never reach these ideal wireless speeds due to many environmental factors.

Linksys E4200 N750 is equipped with 6 internal antennas with full 3×3 MIMO antenna technology. Belkin N750 DB is equipped with Multi-beam antenna technology for optimized video streaming from multiple devices. The new D-Link DIR-645 whole home router also uses smart-beam multi-directional antenna technology that capable of finding and tracking individual wireless clients for best and solid wireless connection.

Ethernet Ports

The newest wired technology for client connection is Gigabit Ethernet port. Even though some newest gigabit technology can reach up to ten gigabit wired speed this will not be applied to clients but for backbone uplink high speed networks. Both N750 routers are equipped with Gigabit Ethernet ports in their LAN (4x) and WAN (1x) interfaces. With both ends between the router and clients are gigabit speeds, the maximum data rate throughput will be achieved eliminating the bottleneck. Brand new computers today are equipped with Gigabit Ethernet ports you can connect to the router for best wired connection.

Some types of broadband modems are also equipped with gigabit Ethernet port for example Surfboard SBG6120 DOCSIS 3 cable modem. This is also ideal when connecting to the gigabit WAN port of the router. Even though with gigabit WAN port of the router doesn’t improve the internet performance, but with gigabit Ethernet ports on both ends of modem and router will optimally transfer the data rate throughput between the two devices, no bottleneck.

USB Port

Belkin and Linksys with their new N750 products are designed to support home entertainment. It means the router should support the shared storage. The router and the shared storage attached to it with built-in UPnP (universal plug and play) media server allows you stream the multimedia files from the storage to the streaming adapter seamlessly. Linksys E4200 includes one USB port and with built-in media server helps you create home entertainment environment. You can stream HD video, music and images from the attached storage to your home theater devices such as Blu-Ray player, DVR, Internet HDTV and XBOX console seamlessly. Unfortunately you cannot use the port for shared printer. But with Cisco connect software you can manage the router setting including print-share, shared storage and other security settings from your PC easily.

Belkin N750 DB includes two USB ports. This is ideal solution to support both “work and play” environment. One USB port is used to share the storage and with included Video Mover App you can easily stream movie library stored in the attached storage to your large HDTV via Blu-Ray player, XBOX console or Play-Station 3. Video Mover App is similar to the media server functionality. Belkin N750 DB is like Asus RT-N56U N600 which also includes two USB ports for shared storage and shared printer concurrently. Guest Network

What is guest network feature? With traditional wireless routers when your friends request internet access with their laptops, you give your wireless password to let them get internet access. This is not a secure way solution to let others get access to your local network resource. Guest network allows you create separate network with different password for guests to get internet access. Both routers support guest network feature to let you grant internet access to your friends without compromising the security.
