Linksys E-4200 Maximum Speed is a new wireless dual-band simultaneous router with N750 technology delivering the speeds of up to 450Mbps for 5GHz band and 300Mbps for 2.4GHz band.

Linksys introduces this maximum speed router with N750 technology (double speed 300Mbps and 450Mbps) and ships into the market prior to the New NETGEAR WNDR4000 N750 router. NETGEAR showcased new lines of wireless devices in the CES 2011 including WNDR4000, WNDR3800 premium edition, and DGND3700 Adsl2 wireless modem.

High Speeds

What is the difference between the former E-3000 and this new E-4200 router? Both routers are dual-band simultaneous. If we see the manufacturer specs, the main difference is the speed. In Linksys E-3000 the maximum speeds each of the bands is 300Mbps (300Mbps + 300Mbps – aka N600). On the other hand, the maximum speed of Linksys E-4200 is 450Mbps for 5GHz band and 300Mbps for 2.4GHz band (aka N750).

Powered by the latest wireless 802.11N dual band simultaneous technology, the Linksys E-4200 is embedded with the advanced internal smart 3×3 MIMO antenna technology for maximum speeds, range, and reliability. In addition with the Quality of Services feature, the router provides the prioritization of the gaming and streaming traffic over other data traffic. With the high speed, longer range, and QoS the Linksys E-4200 is the ideal solution wireless router for high performance environment home computer network for streaming HD video and smooth and fast response gaming.

Like other NEW NETGEAR WNDR4000 and WNDR3800 routers, E-4200 is equipped with the gigabit Ethernet ports for both LAN and WAN interfaces. Connect your high-speed gigabit computers to the LAN ports of the router for high speed and reliable data transfer. With Gigabit WAN port, you can obtain the maximum throughput from DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem such as Surfboard SB6120 which includes one Gigabit Ethernet port.

USB Port

Linksys E-4200 Nt50 includes one USB port you with UPnP Media Server to allow you share an external USB storage with the users on the local network and even you can access it via the internet via secure tunnel connection. With the built-in UPnP AV Media Server you can stream your HD media to other media devices including the XBOX, PS3, Blu-Ray players, and TV.

Unlike New WNDR3800 premium edition which includes one USB port to allow you share the storage or printer, Linksys E-4200 with its USB port cannot be used to host a printer for sharing. Should you need to create a USB printer share, you need to purchase separate print-server or configure your computer for print-server.

How Secure?

Mostly all the wireless routers including this Linksys E-4200 with 802.11n technology support the latest wireless encryption WPA/WPA2 and WEP for connecting to legacy clients. This router also supports the RADIUS for authentication. In business computer networks with RADIUS server support, you can utilize the RADIUS feature for centralized user Authentications and Authorizations.

Linksys E-4200 supports the Guest secure access to allow your guest access the internet without granting your internal network resources. You can create up to 5 guest clients with internet access without compromising your critical documents.

Any other important features including the dual firewall (NAT & SPI) and DHCP are also included. NAT and SPI help your network protected against any Internet threats including DoS attack. DHCP is very important for computer networking to provide IP address configuration for all the clients in the network – reduce administration overhead.

Comparisons

Linksys E-4200 is the new wireless N dual band simultaneous gigabit router with maximum speeds of 450Mbps – ideal solution for high performance home wireless networks for streaming HD media and smooth gaming.

End of the year 2011 Linksys introduced new version of Linksys E4200V2 which is believed the new firmware upgrade to support the printer and faster speed. This is the wireless N900 router version that Linksys offers to the market to compete with Netgear Wndr4500 N900 router. But Wndr4500 has two USB ports instead of one (in E4200) to let you host both storage and printer together.

What about Linksys E4200 N750 compares with Apple Airport Extreme base station? Theoretically the speed is higher in for Linksys E4200, but Airport Extreme is very reliable router based on users experiences.

With Cisco, everything is like Chinese GCD party… They say one thing but mean the other… Pray tell if you really had tried this vapor secure tunnel connection that was mentioned below???

..Linksys E-4200 Nt50 includes one USB port you with UPnP Media Server to allow you share an external USB storage with the users on the local network and even you can access it via the internet via secure tunnel connection???

Linksys with E4200 doens’t support native VPN like other Cisco small business routers, but it provides VPN pass-through to pass any secure tunneling via IPSec. you need to have your own vpn server configured such as RRAS features in Windows server
