Providing an internet access to a café or small campuses or schools is not difficult if you find good and suitable devices to meet your environment. Traditionally you install a high end business class router, but for small area schools, campuses and even small offices, you can install high gain and high power wireless access point in the main building and add a wireless antenna booster. Combination of Amped AP300 wireless N300 high gain access point and Amped SB1000 high-gain Omni-directional antenna booster is appropriate.
Amped AP300 High Gain Wireless N300 Access Point
Standard wireless access point is typically powered by 50mW which is suitable for small area in indoor applications. But with Amped AP300 high gain access point, the area to cover can be up to 5,000 sq ft, three times as wide as standard wireless router / AP.
- High speed up to 300Mbps with wireless N technology
- Includes four Ethernet ports for wired connection to computers or other devices
- Supports Power over Ethernet (POE)
- Setup and configuration is simple and easy
Amped AP300 high power access point is powered by high gain 3dBi MIMO antenna with 100mW power amplifier for high speed and wide coverage as large as 5,000 sq ft suitable for main building of the schools, campuses and small offices.
To cover larger network coverage you can add a wireless antenna booster such as Amped SB1000 high power signal booster. This signal booster can extend the range 3x as long as your standard network coverage and is 20x as power as standard wireless router. With this signal booster, your wireless network can cover 3x larger areas to support your wireless clients around the schools, campuses or offices.
Amped SB1000 high power signal booster is an Omni-directional antenna that broadcast the signal in all directions. Replace the external antenna of your wireless access point or router with this signal booster and place it in the center of the area to cover. This antenna is compliant with any wireless b/g/n which is suitable for replacing your AP300 high gain access point antenna.
How secure? Amped AP300 supports the latest wireless security encryption WPA/WPA2 and it also supports WPS for easy secure client connections.
Amped AP300 is an Access point device that must be connected to a router (wired) to allow you share the internet with clients on the network. With a wireless access point device, typically you connect to a wired router such as Actiontec GT701D or D-Link DSL2540. Both DSL modem with Ethernet port supports routing capability.
Networking Diagram
The networking diagram in figure 2 shows a general deployment of Amped AP300 high gain wireless access point which connects to a wired router. The external antenna is replaced with Amped SB1000 high gain signal booster for covering 3 times as large as normal coverage.
Unlike other standard wireless access point which typically includes only a single Ethernet port, the Amped AP300 includes four Ethernet ports adding you more wired connections.
