Wireless computer network with Netgear N600 routers, Netgear N600 Gigabit routers for high performance wireless network for streaming and gaming.
Netgear introduces some high performance wireless routers you can use to build your home wireless computer network including the Netgear N600 wireless routers and Netgear N750 wireless routers. Routers with N600 technology are powered by wireless 802.11n standard with simultaneous dual band technology to double your bandwidth demand, delivering the high speed up to 300Mbps each band (300Mbps + 300Mbps). On the other hand, Netgear N750 router delivers the speeds up to 450Mbps in 5GHz band and up to 300Mbps in 2.4GHz band.
Netgear N600 and N750 are categorized into high performance routers which are ideal for streaming high definition video and online gaming and covering longer distance coverage than standard routers. Netgear WNDR3700 and WNDR3400 are categorized into N600 routers including WNDR37Av. But the WNDR37Av is not listed in the high performance routers anymore, even though it is still available in the drop-down product lists in Netgear website. If you need to build your wireless computer network, which one you will choose, the WNDR3700 or WNDR3400?
The prices between the two routers are different; WNDR3400 is around $50 cheaper than the WNDR3700 router. What makes different between the two Netgear N600 routers? Have a look at the table 1 below to understand the features differences.
Ethernet Interfaces
The Netgear WNDR3400 N600 router is equipped with four Fast-Ethernet ports (10/100Mbps with Autosensing technology), while the Netgear WNDR3700 N600 is equipped with four Gigabit Ethernet ports (LAN) and gigabit WAN port.
Do you need gigabit ports? Do you have computers with Gigabit NIC adapters? Does your modem support Gigabit Ethernet port? If you require gigabit wired connection for your network environment and more powerful router with better processor speed, the WNDR3700 is your router.
US Port
Both Netgear N600 routers support one USB port for shared storage. Unfortunately both routers cannot be used to host shared printer. Netgear doesn’t provide shared printer for mostly all of its routers except the upcoming WNDR3800 N600 premium edition which can be used to share the printer or storage.

The performances of the routers are different. The Netgear WNDR3700 is more powerful than the WNDR3400 with better processor speed that can provide much better performance in data processing. Both routers receive positive customer ratings with nearly five stars averagely as shown in the table.
Connection Diagram
The figure 1 shows the networking diagram that can apply to both Netgear N600 routers. The router connects to the modem-only device (either cable or DSL).

The USB port connects to the shared storage and the XBOX console is connected to the wireless 5GHz band adapter for connecting wirelessly to the network.
Another Netgear N600 router which integrates the functions of router and DSL modem is DGND3700 wireless dual band modem-router. DGND3700 includes all your requirements for creating a high performance wireless computer network.
